Tonight perhaps the biggest derby in Germany takes place when Schalke meet Borussia Dortmund. Typically feisty affairs over the last few years both team will be hoping to close the gap on the joint leaders Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.
Schalke are currently sitting third 4 points from the top whilst Dortmund are 10. Dortmund will be without the influential Lucas Barrios who has been one of their top performers this season. Schalke on the other hand have Kevin Kuranyi a player in superb form. Both teams have been inconsistent in their last few games, Schalke losing at home to Wolfsburg last week and Dortmund losing to Bayern two weeks ago. If Dortmund win this and Leverkusen and Bayern both win on Saturday it could prove too much for Schalke to win the league this season. Dortmund may not have much chance of winning the league although winning this match would consolidate their place in Europe next season. They will be without their top scorer Lucas Barrios after he picked up his fifth yellow last week so will look to Nelson Valdez for their primary goal threat. However Zidan may play instead. A brilliant game last season.
Prediction: Schalke 2-1 Borussia Dortmund
